Faye Toogood’s Roly-Poly, made in London in 2018. This is the fibreglass original, modelled in clay and cast by hand, rather than the moulded polyethylene version Driade later put into production.
Toogood launched it as part of her fourth Assemblage at Milan in 2014, and has said the bulbous legs and scooped seat came from her own pregnancy and from looking at the world the way her children did.
Chunky, slightly absurd, and more comfortable than it has any business being.
