A CYLINDER OF LIGHT, HELD OUT ON A SINGLE PIECE OF SWEDISH OAK.
A table lamp designed by the brothers Uno and Östen Kristiansson for Luxus, made in Sweden in the 1960s. A round base and slim upright in solid oak hold out a softly glowing shade of opalised acrylic.
The Kristiansson brothers were at their most prolific between 1950 and 1970, known for lighting and mirrors with a clear, warm Scandinavian look. This one is in vintage condition and still carries the original Luxus label under the base.
Switched off it is a small piece of joinery. Switched on, it is the best light in the room.
