1212/21 by Aythamy Armas for Nordic Knots. One of a limited edition of 59, each signed by the artist, hand-knotted in New Zealand wool as a deep 42 mm shag.
Armas paints almost entirely in black, layering charcoal, pastel and aerosol. The transparencies of his canvases could never be reproduced in wool, so he concentrated on the composition and the air between the strokes, and calls the rug an evolution of the painting rather than a copy.
Abstract art you are allowed to walk on. Shoes off, ideally.
