LETTERS FROM
DUBAI
“From its first wind tower to the tallest tower on earth.”
A city deciding what it wants to be, and building it faster than anywhere on earth. Letters From Dubai looks at the craft arriving to meet it: the stone yards and joinery workshops supplying the Gulf, interiors designed to work at forty degrees, and architecture that builds its landmarks as it goes. We also walk the lanes of Al Fahidi, where the barjeel wind towers cooled rooms for a century before air conditioning arrived, and are now being studied again by people building for a hotter world. Plus hotels that redefined what hospitality design can cost, and the creek-side corners the brochures forget.
Each edition carries the city’s palette, drawn here from desert stone and barjeel shade; notes on sourcing in the Gulf, from stone yards to shipping and customs; and a letter to the city at the back.
Book No. 07. Cloth-bound hardback, foil-blocked. Individually numbered within its own limited edition, signed by Emily Ross. 25.2047° N · 55.2708° E.
